Course Description

Bootcamp | 18 hours | 1.8 CEUs

Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belts work to improve quality and reduce defects in organizational processes. It is the first step in Lean Six Sigma and requires a basic knowledge of Six Sigma and the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) process. In this course, students learn the DMAIC process while learning the tools necessary to perform at the Yellow Belt level on a project team. This course covers the basic strategies and tools needed for process improvement and the body of knowledge for the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification.

In this course, students address questions like what is Six Sigma, what is Lean and what is Lean Six Sigma. Students learn about the Six Sigma roles and more specifically the role of the Yellow Belt on the team. They learn about the DMAIC cycle for process improvement and the tools used in each phase of DMAIC. Both Six Sigma and Lean tools are covered, including Six Sigma tools like SIPOC, Basic Statistics, Process Mapping, Process Capability, Cause and Effect Diagram, Histogram, Pareto Chart, Scatter Diagram, FMEA, and Control Charts. Lean tools like Non-Value-Added Analysis, Continuous Flow, Mistake Proofing, Setup Reduction, 5S, and Visual Management are also covered. This course is intended for anyone wanting to learn about Lean Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma tools, or those wanting to study for the Lean Six Sigma Yellow belt certification exam.
