Course Description
Instruction in the fundamental methods of field work in the geosciences and environmental sciences. Students will learn to use compasses, maps, and other important geological and environmental field equipment, describe and map basic geologic features and structures, and maintain a field notebook. Most of the course will be conducted in the field.Learner Outcomes
By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to:- Use field notebooks, compasses, surveying instruments, maps, and other important geological and environmental field equipment,
- Gather detailed, complete, and reliable data using appropriate field techniques, and
- Make regional interpretations of geologic history using real-world datasets.
