Course Description

This course comprehensively covers concepts, methods, and applications in the visualization of geographic data using GIS and computer programming languages (Python and Java). Students gain experience using the latest mapping and visualization libraries to visualize data and make interactive map interfaces.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course students should:
  • Develop an understanding of important concepts in geovisualization
  • Gain the ability to handle and visualize data using Python
  • Learn various ways of visualizing and processing topography using ESRI ArcGIS Pro
  • Learn how to visualize and map time-series data
  • Learn how to create interactive map interfaces using Python and Java
  • Demonstrate learning through creating an original Geovisualization project

GEO5010 - Introduction to GIS or equivalent experience.
